CHELSEA look set to miss out on Jese Rodriguez in the summer as Real Madrid admit they made a mistake signing Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez on loan.
The 26-year-old Hernandez joined Real for the season after falling out of favour at Old Trafford, with Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and even youngster James Wilson all favoured up front.
But according to respected Spanish journalist Melchor Ruiz, Real regret signing the Mexican have decided not to keep him past the summer. courtesy of express
The Cadena COPE reporter claims the La Liga giants will instead look towards academy product Jese Rodriguez as Karim Benzema's back-up.
This comes as a blow to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who had been lining up a £15m move for the 22-year-old Spaniard.
"They acknowledge they could have been wrong about him after what he has contributed," Ruiz said.
"It has not been good for the player how the season has gone. They also believe it wasn’t necessary to sign him as he has not had many minutes.
"They think of Jese Rodriguez as first change for the attack, although at the moment he is far from at his best to play the role ‘Chicharito’ is occupying."
