Burton Albion vs Newcastle
England League Championship
Date: Saturday, 17th December, 2016.
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Pirelli Stadium, Burton upon Trent.
Newcastle are having easy back-to-back away fixtures against two of the weakest teams in Championship ahead of them. The Magpies will first face Wigan Athletic on Wednesday evening to try and get back at the very top o f the standings after Brighton’s win on Tuesday, and then they will travel to Pirelli to face struggling Burton Albion in the Matchday No 22 on Saturday afternoon! Interestingly, this will be the first ever head to head encounter for the two teams.
Burton Albion returned to the old habits after playing two consecutive games without a defeat against Preston North End and Rotherham United. The team led by Nigel Clough lost games with Brentford and Huddersfield Town with ease to get back on the brink of the danger zone, being currently two points clear ahead of the 22nd Blackburn Rovers.
Newcastle have suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions to lose the leading position in Championship, at least for a day. The team, however, got back on track in some style, as they showed a fascinating display in the home win over Birmingham City, demolishing The Blues with 4 – 0 at St. James’ Park. Rafa Benitez’s men will be absolute favorites to snatch victories over both Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion, and everything but a confident win in both games for The Magpies would represent a major upset!
It is not hard to conclude that the main betting prediction will be the away win at 4/7 odds, while you can alternatively back HT/FT win for the visitors at 6/4 or Dwight Gayle to score anytime at 1/1!

Burton Albion vs Newcastle: Prediction
It will be an intimidating atmosphere at the Pirelli Stadium for the visiting Newcastle United on Saturday evening, which could make things difficult for Rafa Benitez’s side. However, we can rule out of any chance of a big upset here. The Magpies looked like a team in top form in their last two wins. However, we believe this is only going to be a narrow win for them because Burton’s three defeats at home this season were all by a narrow 1-goal margin.
